Storyboard Text

  • "Own Nothing"
  • In the prison, Frederick, John, and Henry knew that they wouldn't get caught if Master Freeland didn't find the protections they forged. They chanted together "Own nothing", "Own nothing", and all of them ate their fake protections. Fortunately, this plan worked. No one had proof they tried to escape. However, his master didn't want Frederick to stay in his plantation so Frederick moved to Master's Auld's plantation.
  • While working in Master Auld's plantation, Frederick thought of the events in the last few weeks. He realized how hard it was to escape slavery. Slavery had a grip like iron chains and only determination and perserverance could break its grip.  That is why from then on Frederick resolved to fight for what he believed in even if it was challenging.
