Theseus, the Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons are preparing to get married until all of a sudden a man named Egeus interrupts. Egeus is the father of Hermia, who is in love with Lysander, and Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius, even though she is not in love with him. Hermia and Lysander come up with a plan to run away to Athens and meet up in the forest, and Helena overhears and tells Demetrius.
The lovers head to the forest, and Puck, a fairy, is told to fix the love triangle from Oberon. Once the lovers are asleep, Puck puts a love potion into Lysander's eyes, but Lysander wakes up and falls in love with Helena, a desperate girl wanting attention from Demetrius. While trying to fix this problem, Puck has Demetrius fall in love with Helena as well, and Helena thinks they are playing a cruel trick on her. So everyone loves Helena, and nobody loves Hermia.
The love circle continues when a group of handymen and fairies enter the forest. The Handymen are preparing a play for the Kings wedding, and the Fairies are getting ready to sleep. As the men continue to practice, Puck turns one of the men, Bottom, into the head of a donkey. Bottom, unknowingly begins to start singing and wakes the fairy princess Titania up. She follows the voice, and instantly falls in love with him because Oberon puts a love potion into Titania's eyes, so the love circle continues.
Once Puck reverses his mistake, all the lovers love who they are supposed too, except for Demetrius, who is forever going to love Helena. Puck Reverses his potion on Titania so she no longer loves Bottom as well. Helena is preparing to marry Demetrius, and Hermia and lysander are going to get married aswell. The actors prepare themselves for the wedding.
After the wedding, the handymen perform a play called "Thisbe and Pyrmus, " and Hermia, Lysnader, Helena, Demetrius, Hippoltia, and Theseus get married. All ends well except for Demetius because he will forever be in love with Helena.
