The House on Mango Street Chapter 44: Mango Says Goodbye Sometimes
I like to tell stories. I tell them inside my head. I tell them after the mailman says,
Here's your mail.
I walked slowly up the wooden stairs, my sad shoes taking me to the house I never felt I belong there.
We didn't always live on Mango Street. Before Mango Street, we lived on other streets, but the most street I will always remember Mango Street where I remember the little red, sad house where I belong to, but I didn't belong there.
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.I write it all down and Mango says goodbye sometimes.
