  • Hi i'm Vidalia and I will be teaching you the life cycle of a Low Mass star.
  • A Low Mass Star starts off as a Nebula. A Nebula is a huge cloud of intersteller Material.
  • The Next Stage after the Nebuals is the Protostar. The Protostar is a Mutual gravitation between the particles in a nebula pulls the cloud into a ball that continues to shrink under the influence of gravity.
  • The next stage is the Main Sequence. The way the main sequence works is As a protostar shrinks,Pressure and temperature rise. When the central tempurature reaches about 15 million C. Some of the H nucleai fuse to form He nucleai. Ignition marks the change from protostar to star.
  • After the Main Sequence is the Red giant. The Red Giant H core will covert to He then contract under the force of its own gravity.
  • Next is the Planetary Nebula. The cores are not massive enought to reach tempertures required beyond C. So they shrink.
  • Their outer layers are sometimes cast off to form expanding shells that resemble smoke rings which is the planetary nebula.
  • The last stage of a Low Mass Star is the White Dwarf stage. When the White Dwarf finally burns out, its no longer a star but a stellar remnant.
