Erwin Martinez Period 4 English - Storyboard That Assignment
This storyboard does not have a description.
Odysseus and his men have sail to Sicily, where the cyclops Polyphemus lives.
Odysseus and his men find sheep and cheese, and feast on it, assuming the cyclops follows the Greek Custom of hospitality.
As Odysseus feasts on the cheese, the Cyclops Polyphemus stumbles upon them, confused and angry as to why he is here. Odysseus offers Polyphemus wine, and then he falls asleep.
"In the next land we found were Cyclopes, giants, louts, without a law to bless them (Book IX 56-57)."
As Polyphemus sleeps, the men sharpen a wood plank, and stab him in the eye.
"But Cyclops had gone afield, to pasture his fat sheep, so we looked round at everything inside: a drying rack that sagged with cheeses, pens crowded with lambs and kids... (Book IX 116-120)."
After, the men hide under Polyphemus' sheep while Odysseus hides under the woolliest ram, and wait til next morning to escape.
"'Cyclops, try some wine. Here's liquor to wash down your scraps of men.'" (Book IX 256-257)
They finally escape, but Odysseus later yelled to Polyphemus about who he really is.
"Straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep in his crater eye..." (Book IX 290-293)
"So three sheep could convey each man. I took the woolliest ram..." "So, breathing hard, we waited until next morning." (Book IX 341-342 and 346)
"'Cyclops, if ever mortal man inquire how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye: Laertes' son, whose home's on Ithaca!'" (Book IX 416-419)
