One late summer night on Maple Street, all the power shuts off and a loud roar passes through the neighborhood. Some people thought it was a storm or a meteor but a neighbor pointed out that there was a very clear sky. They were curious and frightened.
After the power goes out and the neighborhood hears the loud noise, A young boy named Tommy shares a scene that happened in a comic book he read. What happened in the comic book was that monsters attack a neighborhood. He said it was as if it was happening to him and his neighborhood in real life.
When Les tries to get his car started to see if the other neighborhood has the same power outage as them, it doesn't start. He gets out of his car and starts walking towards them. A few seconds later, his car starts out of nowhere. Everyone was confused because no ones power was working but somehow Les' car starts.
After Les gets blamed of being the monster, they see a shadow like figure walking down the middle of the street. The neighborhood waits and watches the figure get closer and closer to them until charlie grabs the shotgun out of Steve's hands and shoots. Little did he know, it was Pete Van Horn.
After Charlie is blamed for being the monster because he was so quick to kill Pete, Charlie says it is not him and he blames Tommy for being the monster because he knew what was happening. Him and his mother denied it and then it became a fiasco.
Everyone ends up blaming each other for being the monster. Their suspense and the things they did not know caused them to assume who the monster is. The people are the monsters because of what they assumed and what they could have and did do.
