  • This is a privateer! These are used for battle.
  • This is when the people of France were trying to throw over their government and Thomas Jefferson wanted to help but we were neutral.
  • Jay's Treaty
  • A deal is a deal.
  • It is, isn't it?
  • Washington felt we were not prepared for another war. So, the proclamation was created to say that we would be strictly neutral.
  • Pinckney's Treaty
  • A Privateer is an armed ship owned and officered by private individuals holding a government commission and authorized for use in war, especially in the capture of enemy merchant shipping. Washington did not actually want these.
  • Jay’s Treaty was an agreement between the U.S. and Great Britain that kept the peace between those two countries in 1794.
  • An agreement between the United States and Spain in 1795 that helped fix boundaries and set commercial arrangements.
