Arachne was the most famous weaver in all of Greece and she was very skillful. People would come from all over Greece just to see her weave.
"OMG! I am soooooooo famous!"
Arachne and Athena by: Annabell Williams
Arachne was so prideful and hubris of herself and people started to think that the goddess Athena must have taught Arachne her amazing skill and talent.
They just wish that they could weave as well as I can. I am so awesome. (And selfish.)
Arachne did not like people comparing herself to Athena so she told the people that Athena taught her nothing and that Athena could not do any better then her. One day when an old woman herd her insult Athena and told her to take back what she said, but Arachne ignored her.
"I am the best and Athena could do no better than I"
" No, stupid woman!"
"Take back what you have said to the gods."
When Arachne refused her she turned into the great goddess Athena. Arachne was so surprised that she challenged Athena to a weaving competition.
"I am Athena!!"
If you are Athena, then I will challenge you to a weaving competition."
"You have offended the gods and I will turn you into a spider!"
Athena and Arachne moved so fast that it was really hard to see who was going faster, but it was obviuos to Arachne that Athens was alwys moving a bit faster than her . Wjen they had finished, Athens looked to see what Arachne had weved and was horrified to see a picture of gods hurting humans, Athena was so mad that she turned Arachne into a spider.
A lesson to modern day children would be to always remember to not be to hubris of prideful because you could hurt your friend feeling and remember that not everyone can do what you can.
I am better than all of my friends and get all A's, and I am the prettiest!!
