- After the family at, Father was telling the tale of Malali. Soon, few Talibs came barging through the door. The mother was trying to confront them but she got hit on her head and fell. They took the father away for having an education in the UK
- I'm here for my father!
- I'm here for my husband!
- A few other Talibs started rummaging through their room. They were getting close to Father's secret stash of books, so Parvana leaped on to the talibs and they started hitting her. When the Talibs left, the family stayed in their positions until the next day.
- When we get some tape, we'll tape it together
- Mother and Parvana went to go get the father back. They were showing his picture to many people. Parvana was scared that someone might say something about the picture because pictures are illegal

- Mother and Parvana went to the prison. They stood up to the soldier and demanded to release Father. Other Talibs started surrounding them and were hitting both of them. They also tore the picture of the father. Mother and Parvana left the prison and headed home.
- The mother is depressed because she couldn't save her husband and just laid on the toshak for a couple of days. Ali started missing his mother and was very quiet. Parvana would try to distract Mariam and Ali from the thought of her mother.
- On the 4th day, the food ran out, Nooria told Parvana to go get food. She refused and said her feet still hurt. Nooria didn't care and Parvana realised how much her family needed her. So she agreed to get thee food
