  • The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street Theme: Never Make Assumptions
  • Aliens have flown by here before.
  • How does he know this stuff, Tommy is the alien
  • It wasnt me I swear.
  • Les would you like to explain why your car turned on by itself or did you turn it on because your the alien.
  • I dont have to explain or  show you my radio if I dont want to.
  • Why dont you show us your radio that you have isnt it a little suspicious that you havent showed anybody.
  • In "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is that to never make assumptions. In the scene were Tommy was talking about aliens and told the whole crowd that aliens have flown past there town, everyone around them except his mother were quick to make assumptions and they thought he was the alien since they were wondering were he got all of the information from. Also in the scene where they now accuse Less Goodman of being the alien after his car was the only car that starts and the everyone else's car didn't work they were just quick to assume that he was the alien because when Less was next to his car it started by itself. So this relates to the main theme of the story The Monster which is to Never make assumptions unless you have evidence to prove your point. The last piece of evidence I have for the main theme of the story is that for like the 3rd time the characters in the story The Monsters assumed again that the alien was now Steve and not Less Goodman or Tommy because Steve had a radio that he had showed it to nobody except his wife and everyone got suspicious about him because hasn't showed other people and everyone in the story thinks that he is now communicating with the aliens. So all of the evidence supports the main theme of the story which is to never make assumptions. In conclusion everyone was assuming and blaming each other of being the aliens which matches the theme which is to never make assumptions.
  • Evidence 1: In this Scene Tommy says that aliens flew by and everyone was shocked about what he said and now everyone thinks Tommy is the alien except his mom.
  • Evidence 2: All of the characters in the story now think Les Goodman is the alien because his car was the only one that was working and the car started by itself.
  • Evidence 3 : The characters in the story now believe that Steve has something to do with the electricity not working because he has a radio that hasnt showed anyone yet so the characters in the story had suspicious feelings about Steve.
