  • Peasents paid about half of their income to nobles leaving little income to spend on basic necessities. 
  • We're so poor food doesn't even seem like an option!
  • Are you sure you guys want to spend all this money?
  • Louis and Marie lead their country into debt on account of their outrageous spending sprees.
  • Bread was an important part of the French diet, and in 1789 the price of bread doubled.
  • How is bread this expensive?!?
  • Peasants and other common people didn't have much say, or even representation in their government.
  • Let's make taxes higher for the third estate!
  • Great idea!
  • In 1789 the National Assembly decided to sell some of the Church's land and used its profits to help pay off France's large debt.  
  • He's right!
  • I don't think the Church needs ALL that land!
  • Basically, you sign this and you lose a whole bunch of power, sound good?
  • And in 1791 they also made a constitution that Lous reluctantly approved, which created a limited constitutional monarchy. 
  • Well, it's not like I have a choice...
