Apartheid took a large part in South Africa. It separated South Africa into whites and blacks, restricting where blacks can live, work, travel, sit, bathroom, and eat.
In 1960, a peaceful protest started of apartheid at the town of Sharpeville turned into a violent protest until police started to fire there weapons on the protest.
Despite in South Africa they now have a stable democratic government and is the second largest economy in Africa.
