Malala woke up in Birmingham and did not know where she was. She was given a white teddy bear by Dr. Fiona, but Malala thought it was originally green and switched out with a white one. She was not allowed to hear any news for fear that she would be taumatized.
Malala would write on a piece of paper to communicate since she could not talk. SHe would sometimes confuse words. She was very worried about who was paying for her treatment and how mush it cost.
Many people wanted to visit Malala, though they were usually not allowed to. She would also get many get-well cards.
There was a nerve on the left side of Malala's face which prevented her from smiling correctly. It instead looked like a grimace.
There was an operaation to fix the nerve. The operation was successful.
Malala worked very hard at therapy and was rewarded a trip to the botanical gardens. Malala loved plants, so this was a fun experience for her.
