  • (Quote:   ¨ I was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness of the carnival season, that I encountered   my friend.¨   ) (Justification:   This shows how big the carnival  is as its one of the main settings of the story. As well as revealing eventually a character in the story.)
  • True ... The Amontillado
  • The Amontillado
  • ( Quote: ¨ The thousand injuries of Fortunato ...¨ ) (Justification: This shows what Montresor has been putting up with Fortunato for awhile now.)
  • ¨Fortunato.....¨
  • ¨He!  he! he!- a very good joke indeed...¨
  • (Quote:   ¨ My friend, no;. It is not the engagement, but the severe cold with which I perceive you are afflicted. The vault are insufferably damp. They are encrusted with niter.¨) (Justification:  This gives you an idea of the new setting and a bit of the situation. Because of this you would kinda feel a feeling of uncertainty  for whats to happen next.)
  • In pace requiescat!
  • (Quote:   "over the wall; you cannot help feeling the niter. Indeed it is very damp. Once more let me implore you to return. No? Then I must positively leave you.¨)  (Justification: This is shows the turning point/ climax as Montresor  chains Fortunato.  Betraying him   making this the most intense moment in the story.)
  • Climax
  • (Quote:  ¨But to these words I hearkened in vain for a reply . I grew impatient. I called aloud.¨ ) (Justification:  At this point Montresor felt guilt when he trapped Fortunato in. This   emotional stage effected  Montresor   as Fortunato   experiences these emotions .   Giving us the  falling action.)
  • Falling Action
  • (Quote:   ¨My heart grew sick- on account of the catacombs.¨             ¨ In pace requiescat!¨ ) (Justification:   From these quotes we can tell Montresor didn't    enjoy the revenge he just achieved.   This shows the lesson of the story as revenge isn't     always as sweet as people might think.)
