- Divorce, when two spouses fall out of love, and sometimes a child is left alone. One out of two marriages end in divorce. An unfortunate, but true statistic. Lucky for Macy cashmere, she has found friends that love her, and that she loves back. Still, the side effects of divorce weigh heavy on her.
- Acting Out
- In the book, Alma, Macy's friend, had invited her to her birthday party. Macy having a low opinion of herself, said no, thinking that not showing up would save Alma some embarrassment. This upset Alma, and had momentarily hurt their friendship. A low self esteem, leads to relation ship problems, and isolation.
- Examples
- In the event that two parents divorce, the child may be left in custody of a physically or mentally abusive parent or step-parent. Some divorced spouses become alcoholics or drug users, and put the child in an unsafe environment. Jasmin Cashmere, Macy's mother, is a drug user, and has frequent boyfriends, who are sometimes abusive and violent. this can lead to trust issues in later life.
- Conclusion
- Psychology professor, Mavis Hetherington, found that 25 percent of all children who grew up in divorce had behavioral issues, in contrast with the 10 percent of children who grew up in an intact home. Macy has trouble with authority, and has a bad temper. Its obvious, that the divorce or separation of her parents, may not be the soul cause of her temperament, but dosen't help at all.
- their are many examples of behavioral, or social issues in children of divorce. such as, Percy Jackson and the lightning thief. Percy, in the beginning of the book, is in a school for troubled kids, with only one friend. the book, does not call much attention to his behavior, and some of it had to do with him being half god, but, it is clear that when he returns home, he has problems with his stepfather, that can sometimes boil over into other things.
- while their are cases of divorce, causing behavioral, and social issues in kids. Although many divorced families, have learned to thrive in two homes. most parents, would never want their falling out with a spouse to affect their child, so they find ways to raise a child in two homes. a divorce, is not the end of the world, there will be some bumps in the road, but in most cases, the love of a family is enough to fill to homes.
