  • Lead Object
  • Hello Leena! Today we will learn about one of the standard Salesforce Objects called Lead which is part of the Sales Cloud. A Lead is a prospect or potential opportunity – a person who expresses interest.
  • Leads can be generated in the system through referrals by existing customers, web portals, online advertisements, TV advertisements, Campaigns etc.
  • How are Lead records generated or created in the system?
  • Lead Object
  • After the Leads are created in the system, sales representatives follow up with Leads and convert the qualified Lead into Account, Contact and Opportunity. If the Account & Contact already exists in the system, only Opportunity will be created.
  • When the person doesn’t show any interest, the Lead status is converted to ‘Lost’ and the recorded details are removed from the system.
  • Oh ok! What if the Lead doesn’t show any interest?

  • To summarize, the Leads allow the company to maintain two separate lists - one for prospective customers and other for existing customers. You can store your prospects as Leads and existing customers as Accounts.
  • That’s all for today's session. We will discuss about Account Object in the next session.
  • Thanks Gaurav! It was an interesting session. Looking forward for the next one.
