Hello Leena! Today we will learn about one of the standard Salesforce Objects called Lead which is part of the Sales Cloud. A Lead is a prospect or potential opportunity – a person who expresses interest.
Leads can be generated in the system through referrals by existing customers, web portals, online advertisements, TV advertisements, Campaigns etc.
How are Lead records generated or created in the system?
After the Leads are created in the system, sales representatives follow up with Leads and convert the qualified Lead into Account, Contact and Opportunity. If the Account & Contact already exists in the system, only Opportunity will be created.
When the person doesn’t show any interest, the Lead status is converted to ‘Lost’ and the recorded details are removed from the system.
Oh ok! What if the Lead doesn’t show any interest?
To summarize, the Leads allow the company to maintain two separate lists - one for prospective customers and other for existing customers. You can store your prospects as Leads and existing customers as Accounts.
That’s all for today's session. We will discuss about Account Object in the next session.
Thanks Gaurav! It was an interesting session. Looking forward for the next one.
