The American and French preformed a siege on the British causing them to surrender. The French Navy blocked supplies and the Continental Army blocked them from land.
The Continental Congress met to make a constitution. They created the Articles of Confederation which was a loose alliance between the 13 states.
The Articles of Confederation was created to limit the power of government and create a loose alliance between the states. In the Articles states had only one vote in congress and congress had the ability to declare war, appoint military officers, coin money, and didn't have the power to tax.
Shay's rebellion was created by an enraged farmer who was upset that the government could seize farms during the war many farmers took out loans to pay for supplies, but after they couldn't pay off their debt and taxes. Which caused their farms to be seized and they rioted at courthouses preventing farms from being taken.
Delegates from around the states came together to fix the Articles, but they saw how bad it is and started brand new from scratch. There were lots of debates and compromises before the Constitution was fully finished.
The constitution was finished and ready to be on September 17,1787. The constitution consisted of the ways the country would be run and the rights that the citizens had.
