  • Political Leadership
  • Except all the Southern States hate me...
  • It feels so nice to be here! I'm ready to work!
  • Military Leadership
  • I couldn't agree more Sherman!
  • Yes it was Ulysses!
  • Today was another great day Generals!
  • Oh you are all wrong! There is way more we could've done today! Im disappointed!
  • Calm down you snapping turtle!
  • Military Strategy
  • So my plan is that we wrap the South like an anaconda,
  • By doing this, we can slowly suffocate and weaken them
  • So what do you think?
  • AMAZING!!
  • I THINK YOU ARE A GENIUS SCOTT!!
  • Abraham Lincoln was the 16th Republican President of the United States. He was strongly against the development of slavery. Many Southerners did not like him due to his opinions on slavery. He led the Union during the Civil War. Unfortunately, when he was elected for his second term, he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865.
  • Industrialization
  • I'm extremely exhausted from all that working! I've never made so much shoes in my life!!
  • The Union was led by Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman, George Meade, and George B. McClellan. Ulysses S. Grant will later become the 18th President of the United States. William Sherman led his group of men to march through Georgia and the Carolinas. Sherman was also a military architect. George Meade was known as "The Old Snapping Turtle" because he had a short temper with his superiors & officers. Lastly, George B. McClellan was a prominent manager of the Union Amry of the Potomac.
  • Transportation
  • Wow! At the rate we're sending these supplies, we're never going to run out of items!
  • A military strategy the Union came up with was the Anaconda Plan. The plan was used to slowly suffocate the South and weaken them. It was proposed by Winfield Scott. The plan consisted of blocking the South to prevent any trading with the rest of the world. During that, the Union army would move into the South and capture its major cities. The capital of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia was the main goal.
  • Population
  • WE ARE GOING TO NEED MORE MEN!!
  • An advantage the North had was being more industrialized. The majority of the Industrial Revolution took place in the North. The North had many factories that helped them grow in the economy. Some of the factories made boots, clothing, and weaponry which were used for soldiers. This allowed for the faster production of materials needed for the war. The growing of factories helped with economic expansion
  • Well, I guess you're right!
  • Well we have to keep up with the war & help with supplies!!
  • Another advantage the North had against the South was transportation. A majority of railroad tracks ran all through the North. To be exact, 72% of the countries' tracks were in the North. Because of these tracks, war materials and supplies could be transported faster than before. Also, the North had taken over a couple of tracks in the South since they went to the North. This was an upper hand for the North because they wouldn't run out of supplies and could restock quickly.
  • It's fantastic that the North has access to all these railroads!
  • We're definitely going to win!!
  • Lastly, an advantage the North had was population. The North gained Irish and German immigrants in the 1820s. By the time of the war, there were 22 million people living and working in the North. With this in mind, the North could easily supply more men in their army. Additionally, with many people in the North, they had a large amount of support during the war. This gave the men more motivation to fight for the North.
  • I'M READY TO FIGHT!!
  • WHERE CAN I SIGN?!
  • I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!
