After spending some time alone at the church, Pony, Johnny and Dally go out to eat at Dairy Queen. Dally mentions how Cherry becomes a spy for the greasers causing Pony and Johnny to gasp like a birthday boy at a surprise party. Johnny hit his knee creating a klunk from the eager. They both almost keeled finding out about all the evnts going back at home because they never tought this would happen in a million years!
Cherry's a spy?
Johnny has felt such guilt after the incident with Bob. He gallantly announced that he wanted to turn him self in to the fuzz. Dally and pony were shocked, hoping that he wouldn't. He feels bad that Pony has to deal with the situation forver!
I think i'm gonna turn myself in.

As the boys head back to the Church, they notice the sound of sizzling fire and the smoke dancing in the air. They see two school teachers beg for help while feelings apprehensive. Their students had been wandering around the church during their picnic and started screaming like wild geese.
What is going on here!?
Pony and Johnny hastily head out to find the howling fire began to spread everywhere. Johnny was a lion as he set foot into the church. He was determined to save those kids. While going through many obstcles, they hear a loud BANG coming from one of the rooms. They rescued the children and brought them back to safety but both Johnny and Pony collapsed.

What am I getting myself into?
Pony wakes up not knowing where he is and then he sees one of the teachers, Jerry Wood. Confused, Pony tries to remember the eluded thought inside of him. Pony asks why Dally had hit him like a hard rock and Jerry explains that there was fire all over his back. Pony also questions if Johnny was doing alright but, the fire swallowed johnny up and spit him right back out. He was damaged really bad.
Pony and Jerry return back to the hospital in Tusla as the ambulance shrieks to a stop.. As Pony waits there for information about Johnny, Darry and Sodapop come visit him. Darry was sobbing like a three month old baby, realizing how much he has missed his brother. Pony always thought that Darry hated him but, Darry's true's colors bursted out of him. Pony and Darry were no longer aloof.
