Storyboard Text

  • Cell Theory has come along way over the years. There were many steps people had to take to develop cell theory. Just take Robert Hooke for instance.
  • These things in the cork I'm looking at seem rather boring. That's it! I'll call them cells!
  • Hooke coined the word cell, because he thought they were just as boring as the small cells the monks lived in. Thus, cells got their name. The next man who developed cell theory was Robert Brown.
  • Wow! All of these plant cells have little black spots! I'll call them the nucleus!
  • Brown discovered what is now the nucleus. The "little black dots" are what we call the nucleus today.  The next man we will look at is Theodor Schwann
  • These animals have cells just like plants do! That must mean all living things have cells!
