The Sumerians built a stable food supply by having a series of dams, canals, and reservoirs. They invented the plow which changed all of farming. Instead of having a human shovel holes on a field for a long time they used two animals to walk the plow down the field making a hole in the ground to plant crops.
In Sumer there was 3 different levels of classes. The top level that was closest to the middle was for Priests, Kings, Nobels, and government officials. The middle was for skilled people like farmers,fishers, and metalsmithers. The bottom was for slaves. Kings ruled and scribes recorded laws and events in Sumer.
The Sumerians large statues that were very life like to please the gods. They thought that Ziggurats are where the gods lived. They made statues because they thought the gods would be pleased with them.
Metalworkers were people who made cups and weapons. As well as jewelry and mirrors. Music was a way that Sumerians thought would bring joy to the gods. A lyre is a harp like musical instrument usually made form wood.
The wheel was a very good and helpful invention. It "evolved" from a pottery wheel to make pots. And ended up being on a wagon. Sledges came before the wheel, you had to pull people and products to the destination.
Cuneiform was the writing Sumerians used. There were much more than 26 letters and there alphabet. Pictographs was the writing that came before cuneiform. It seemed much harder than cuneiform or else why would they switch.
