The Protagonist is Parker Sante. When he was younger he lost father and every since has "lost" his voice. Parker is shy and alone until one day meets a girl that understands him. Therefore he then falls in love with this girl but things take a turn.

The antagonist is Zelda. This is the girl that Parker meets and eventually falls in love with. She's a shy girl that has pretty much given up on life. She doesn't talk about herself and wonders about other people.
"The streets were overrun by midget army of ghosts,witches,zombies,and Pokemon" (65)
"It was a perfect halloween night, thick with a fog that captured light and held it close, turning each streetlamp into a firefly cupped in palms" (65)
In the book " thanks for the trouble" by Tommy Wallach he shows two young characters that are basically confused on life. For that , Parker and Zelda meet each other and do all sorts of different things to remind themselves what life is about, but it's more complicated than that.
" This is the first time you've ever been alone in a movie theater with a girl, you are well aware and terrified of screwing it up" (47).
Parker and Zelda go swimming and actually get close with each other and have fun. This shows a mood because they finally get to have fun. Even though they are drunk or whatever they still have fun with each other.
As Parker was walking down the street he described the area around him as he was walking to the party. Those 2 quotes perfectly show the area around him.
Parker and Zelda go to the movie theater and spend time together. They go to the movie and just spend time together. This is one of the first times they are together.
