Storyboard Text

  • Jonas is assigned as the Receiver of Memory. He plays a huge role in the community and many people are happy for him.
  • Jonas receives rules from the Giver such as being able to lie, visit the Givers house a lot, take medication, be rude, and do not share his dreams to anyone.
  • The Giver has a massive home compared to the rest of the community. It is very luxurious and tidy inside, so fancy his walls are books.
  • The first memory he received was snow, sitting on a sled and going down a steep hill. The second memory was sunshine which represented energy.
  • In the community, everything must be the same so people are not allowed to make their own decisions. When Jonas wondered why everything must be the same, he realized people will make the wrong choices.
  • seeing beyond means that Jonas can see back into the past. It means that Jonas can receive memories from the community.
