One day in 1665, John finds himself walking around London listening to people talking about how The Plague has come to London. He is feeling a little bit ill, himself.
John goes home. A large red cross is painted on his door. The door is nailed shut and will stay shut for 40 nights.
John limps around the town feeling sick. He sees that the mayor has closed the city gates to stop the sick getting into London. There is talk of Plague sweeping the city
John's wife now catches plague. He tries to treat her with a treatment that the Plague doctor showed him. He rubs the sores with a mixture of honey, herb of grace and wheat. Then he cuts a live pigeon in half and puts it on the sores. The whole family pray for forgiveness in the hope that God will cure them.
John is starting to feel worse. He takes his savings and pays to see a doctor. The doctor tells him that he has Plague and he has caught it from the bad air in London.
John dies. His body is taken to the mass graves outside the city walls. His clothes and blankets are burned. His wife and daughter survive and go to the countryside to avoid catching The Plague again.
