Storyboard Text

  • You shall forfeit the use of that tongue with which you've cheated me!
  • You shall have the last word but no power to speak first
  • Once upon a time, there was a beautiful nymph named Echo who had her voice taken for trying to detain the goddess Juno
  • Echo sees a young man named Narcissus in the woods. When he asks to see her he runs away, frightened and disgusted
  • I would rather die than you should have me!
  • After Narcissus' encounter with Echo he shunned all the nymph's. A maiden who had failed to attract him prayed he might someday know what love is, and have no affection returned.
  • After a long day of hunting, Narcissus found a fountain.
  • Who is this beautiful water spirit living in the fountain? Look at those beautiful locks. The rounded cheeks. The ivory neck. The glow of health and exercise.
  • Why do you shun me? Surely my face is not one to repel you. Stay! I entreat you! Let me at least gaze upon you if i may not touch you.
  • As Narcissus was pining over himself, he died. Echo had witnessed his death.
  • Alas! Alas!
  • The nymphs mourn him and prepare a funeral but when they went to retrieve his body, in its place lay a flower. This now preserves the memory of Narcissus.
