Three suitors, named Lucentio, Hortensio, and Gremio ask for permission to marry Bianca the youngest of Baptista's daughters. They are let down when he says no, because his oldest, Kate, must be married first.
The younger suitors Lucentio and Hortensio pretended to be teachers so they could get closer to Bianca while Petruchio was trying to marry Kate
When the wedding day for Kate and Petruchio came he was very late and when he got there he was wearing old 'nasty' clothes. He was showing Kate how she looks when she acts the way she does.
After the wedding Petruchio wouldn't even let her stay for the reception. He took her straight to his house and treated her badly. While all this was happening to Kate, Bianca had secretly gotten married to Lucentio.
After Petruchio has trained Kate to be a good wife he decides it is time to go back and visit her father. On their way to her fathers house Petruchio says things that are wrong, but Kate agrees with him and tells him he is right.
They have a big dinner at Baptista's house, and all the men bet on their wives to see who's was the most obedient. They all called their wives one be one, and none of them came, until Petruchio called for Kate, she was the only one to come.
