Storyboard Text

  • There are more than 125,000 Native Americans living in the forests and prairies. We need to be ready to fight
  • We need westward expansion!
  • We have to, it's America's destiny!
  •     Some Native Americans assimilated to white culture and influence, but others violently resisted, creating violence.
  • In the fall and winter of 1838-1839, the United States removed about 15,000 Native Americans from their home
  • I propose the Indian Removal Act. That way we can relocate the Native Americans out of our national borders.
  • We agree, sounds like our destiny!
  • As a result of the Indian Removal Acts, the Black Hawk war was fought between angry Native and western settlers.
  • Seminal Native Americans and runaway black slaves retreated to the Everglades of Florida. There was a seven year guerrilla war, but the spirit was broken when the Native American leader  was seized.
