Storyboard Text

  • Hey there! Today, I'll be talking about the responsibilities and duties of a citizen of the United States!
  • Responsibilities are things you can choose to do. They are not mandatory.
  • Duties are things that are required. You have to do them, and will get in trouble if you don’t.
  • The 4 duties are: 1. Obeying the law2. Paying taxes3. Serve on jury when summoned 4. Registering with the Selective Service
  • The 5 voluntary responsibilities are:1. Voting2. Staying informed3. Community involvement4. Practicing tolerance5. Passing it on
  • The responsibilities are important because they give you a good spectrum of how involved you want to be in the community. Such as the voting responsibility. It gives you a choice to not vote. If you don't like any of the candidates or just don't like the stress of having to vote, then you have a choice to opt out.
  • The duties are important because they help keep order. For example, the "obey the law" duty helps prevent crimes, dangerous driving, and harm to other people.
  • Now you know about the duties and responsibilities of a us citizen! Thank you!
