The civil rights movements were nonviolent acts by black people and their supporters to eliminate segregation.

Storyboard Text

  • A Sit in at a restaurant 
  • What people did about the sit ins
  • A wade in
  • The sit ins were non-violent  acts  in which blacks sat in a white only restaurant waiting to be served but they would never be served in a white only restaurant.
  • Punishment for the wade ins
  • The people who were in the sit in got punished and they were beaten and/or arrested.
  • Pray ins
  • They would protest by going to white only pools and go into them.
  • You shall not pray here
  • The people who participated in the wade ins were beaten and could go to jail.
  • They would pray in/outside of white churches to get what they wanted.
  • The protesters were punished and sent back to where they came from or to jail.
