THE BOY WHO DARED
Susan Campbell Bartoletti
This book was told in the view of Hitler Youth.
The book The Boy Who Dared took place in Nazi Germany, where Hitler took over and was respected by his supporters. The novel is written in Helmuth Hubener's and the Hitler Youth's perspective.
Helmuth was a part of the Hitler Youth program and soon he did not agree with the way Hitler thought and did not understand the point of Hitler harming people. He wrote out a newsletter to share out the truth, of Hitler and sent it out for many to see. Eventually, he was arrested and beaten.
Helmuth Hubener is a normal school boy who agreed with others and Hitler but then heard the truth, and shared it with many people. He is a caring and a trustworthy person who found the truth on his own.
The theme is courage. Helmuth fought against one of the most powerful men, and he had enough courage to do so.
