In the Hajj, us slaves made 20% of the population. We went because we need to carry the gold for the king and we would hope to get a little gold back.
The Hajj was a very long journey. We passed trough the Sahara and many other places. It took us months to get to places. We got very tired because we had to carry gold.
We arrived in a city called Taghaza. Our king wanted to trade gold here. It was a lot of heavy work carrying gold but it was all worth it because we now have salt which we use for cooking and many other things.
Today we were though and reminded why we were going on the Hajj. We learned that by going on the Hajj, we would be known by god and we would be able to connect to god.
Today we arrived in Cairo. Our king flooded them with gifts. They weren't so accepting to mix our cultures. Mansa Musa gave them so much gold that the value of gold went down since there was an abundance of it and a lot of pople had it
Today Mansa Musa really got us well known. He put is in a world atlas, and he showed how rich we were. I like that because it shows that we are succesful. But it also shows that we are rich so people might try to invade us more since we have resources.
