I wanted to become a voyageur because my father might not be able to sign with the North West company because he had recently cut his thumb, and there had to be some one who did it . Sadly, I would have to leave my family behind along with many other things.
I'm not holding up too well, I miss my family and friends. I completely regret going on this trip. My back is in so much pain from the paddling and my arms are so sore. My brigade is always yelling.
We decided to go to a portage instead of taking the rapids, we did not want to risk losing all of our stuff to trade. It was very very tiring to carry all those bags! We had to carry them for such a long distance!
Hello Son, glad you made it home how was your journey?
Crossing Lake Superior was very difficult because as soon as we got in we started to take on water. It was very hard to paddle through. The ride was very shaky and bumpy. After our journey on the lake we decided to rest on shore.
When we got to the Grand Portage I was very excited . I couldn't believe that I have made it this far. I could finally rest!
I finally got to go home. I was so happy to see my family! I've officially decided I'm going to sign on next spring! I'm very happy I decided to sign the voyager papers, I've met so many people along my journey. It was a hard journey but it was worth it.
