  • First Amendment
  • Because of the First Amendment, we can gather in assemblies and speak our minds. 
  • Second Amendment
  • Thanks to the Second Amendment, I am allowed to own a gun.
  • Third Amendment
  • You must let us into your home and allow us to quarter here. 
  • No! You are not allowed to come into my home unless I give you my consent. 
  • Freedom of speech, religion, assembly, and press, and the right for people to petition to their government. 
  • Fourth Amendment
  • If you don't have a warrant, then you are not allowed to. 
  • I need to search your house!
  • Protects the rights of states to maintain a standing army and of citizens to bear arms.
  • Fifth Amendment
  • After we decide you are guilty the first time, we can't revisit your case to prove your innocence. 
  • Restricts quartering of troops in private homes without the owner's consent. 
  • Sixth Amendment
  • You are under arrest! You have a right to a speedy trial, witnesses, and a lawyer. 
  • Protects against unreasonable searches and/or violations of property without a warrant. 
  • A criminal cannot be a witness against themselves, and once a court rules something, they can't come back to the case a second time. 
  • I'm innocent!
  • You know what you are accused of, you have a right to bring witnesses, you can have a fast public trial, and you are allowed to have a lawyer.
