Hmm... I really need to pick a place to work at.
In my poem "After Apple Picking" I am, if taken literally, picking apples.
As a metaphor I refer to picking out knowledge or goals in my life when talking about picking the apples.
In literature, picking usually means making a decision about something.
The apples represent goals in life such as, getting a job or going to college.
In my poem picking apples becomes a powerful metaphor for picking out knowledge and making important decisions.
