  • The tone of the story is melancholy mostly because the poem is talking about the feelings that people expressed after the civil war/after Abraham Lincoln died.  
  • W-Word Choice
  • Fearful, weathered, grim, bleeding drops of red, fallen cold and dead, pale and still, no pulse nor will, mournful.
  • I-Imagery 
  • "For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;" In this scene it is giving the image of how the people are mourning and   respecting Lincoln.
  • S-Style
  • The author uses end rhyme in each stanza and imagery throughout most of the poem.
  • T-Theme
  • The narrator uses the right word choice and tone to make this story about Abraham Lincolns death and how people felt.
