  • Cognitive (1 year)
  • A newborn baby during the first three months begins to develop a social smile and enjoys playing with other people but may cry when the playing stops. It may also imitate some facial expressions.
  • Language (1 year)
  • A born baby's movement when having three months of birth is that it raises it's head and chest when lying on their stomach. It also supports upper body with arms when lying on stomach. It stretches legs out and kicks when lying on stomach or back.
  • Movement (2 years)
  • The first year of a baby is when it explores objects in many different ways such as shaking, banging, throwing, and dropping. The baby finds hidden objects easily and looks at correct picture when the image is named.
  • Hand and Finger skills ( 2 years)
  • The first uear of a baby's language is that they respond to “no”. Uses simple gestures, such as shaking head for “no”. Babbles with inflection (changes in tone). Says “dada” and “mama”. Uses exclamations, such as “Oh-oh!” and tries to imitate words.
  • "Mamaa!"
  • The second year of a baby's movement is that they start to walk alone. Pulls toys behind them while walking. They carry large toy or several toys while walking and even begins to run. They also stand on tiptoe and kick balls.
  • The second year of a baby's hand and finger skills comes from scribiling on themselves. Turns over container to pour out contents. Builds tower of four blocks or more. Some babies might use one hand more often than the other.
