Carrie grew up in Nova Scotia in an area of racial discrimination.
She loved to write poems as a child.
When she grew up she became an activist to try to change how people treated the black, but unfortunately it didn't seem to work. She supported Viola Desmond's case at the Roseland Theater. and since then she has been happy then ever!
Carrie became a journalist, writer and poet. She married Albert Theophilus Best on June 24 1925. They had one son named James Calbert Best.
She Continued to do what she loved. for the rest of her life.
