It was another rainy day on the planet Venus. It hadn't stopped raining for the past seven years and everyone who was living there hadn't seen the sun in what felt like forever.
The children were muttering about the sun. It was going to come out again - well at least, that's what they hoped. They were hoping the sun would show its face today but, at the time, there was no sign of happiness in the room.
They turned to the window, as the rain slowly stopped. The children were all nine years old and they had never seen the sun - all except for Margot, who had seen the sun only once since she came to Venus.
"Come on, class," the teacher said, "We don't want to miss the sun!" The children waited for the teacher to get her sun hat. "Hey everyone," William shouted to the rest of his classmates, "Let's put her in a closet before teacher comes!" And that is exactly what they did. "No!" Margot protested, but the class kept pushing her into the cupboard. There was no way out.
"Wow," the children were so surprised, "Look! There's the sun!" They all shielded their eyes as they looked at the yellow sphere in the sky. It was amazing. They ran around and played hide and seek. It was just like what Margot had said - how the sun was like a penny and how it was like a fire in the stove - hold on. What had they done to Margot?
She was still locked in the cupboard back under the tunnel. She had missed out on seeing the sun and had to wait another seven years to see it again. They had been mean to her about being wrong about the sun and now they had realised they had done something horrible. As it started to rain again, they rushed back to the cupboard to let Margot out.
