  • The U.S. was able to continue trading because they didn't take sides during the war.

  • The British forced American soldiers to serve in the British navy. British imprisoned hundreds of native- born and naturalized American citizens.

  • Leopard's captain demanded to search American ships but the Chesapeake refused in return British opened fire killing three American crew members.
