Ralph though it was unfair that just because Jimmy was from a certain place, he had to go live in a camp.
Ralph Lazo was a Mexican-American kid born in 1924 from Los Angeles who loved playing basketball with his friend Jimmy.
When Ralph was in high school, the US was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor.
Jimmy's family was treated badly and were forced to moved to an interment camp just because they were Japanese.
He snuck aboard, wanting to experience what Japanese-Americans had to.
Jimmy's family was surprised, nobody had ever volunteered to go to the internment camps.
When Ralph and Jimmy got to the camp all they could see were rows and rows of shacks for everyone in the camp
