Jackie is hit in the head by the racist pitcher. This helped him showed resiliency because he got back up and didn't quit, it also shows that he isn't afraid of any racist and ignorant people.
An old white man goes to where Jackie is staying and threatens them, they have Jackie leave and he thinks he was kicked by the team. Jackie shows resiliency by laughing when he finds out they had to leave, instead of caring about the racist mob he was worried about being dropped by the team.

A player from the rival team is calling Jackie racial slurs and being very racist towards him. Jackie tries to ignore it but thankfully one of his teammates stands up for him and tells the other player to leave him alone.
