  • I thought you would be pleased, dear.

  • "Where is the necklace?"
  • Madame Loisel make her life sound like she is terribly poor, when she lives a middle class life.
  • Climax
  • Madame Loisel receives a letter to attend an evening reception.
  • Falling Action
  • Madame Loisel decides to attend the reunion, and borrows a diamond necklace from her friend, Madame Forestier. After the reunion, Madame Loisel comes home and looks in the mirror. Then Madame Loisel notices the diamond necklace she borrowed from Madame Forestier was gone.
  • Resolution
  • Madame Loisel and her husband searched for the necklace but had no luck. They decided to go buy a new one, but the necklace was so expensive, it caused them to go into debt.
  • "Where could that necklace be?"
  • Madame Loisel and her husband had to work for ten years to pay off the debt for the necklace.
  • "How much longer do I have to work for?"
  • After the ten years of paying off the debt of the necklace. She runs into Madame Foreister and Madame Loisel tells Madame Forister the truth about losing the necklace. Madame Forister also tell the truth about the price of the necklace.
