The love of my life is gone and my cousin has been killed... How can life get worse?
In the Exposition, we learn about the characters and setting. Setting: Verona. Italy in the 1590's Characters: Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Benvolio, Lord Capulet and Montague, Lady Capulet and Montague, and many more... The story starts off in the streets of Verona when Romeo is depressed because his one and only love (at the time), Rosaline was not returning the love he had for her. Main Conflict: Romeo and Juliet are forced to hide their love for each other because of the families' never ending fight.
Here is the plan...
After Romeo attends a Capulet Party, he has forgotten all about Rosaline and he is now 'in love' with Juliet. Then, Romeo visits Juliet's house but is later running away to not get in trouble. A few days later, there was the usual Capulet and Montague fight: Tybalt, the cousin of Juliet, killed Mercutio and then Romeo kills Tybalt as revenge for killing Mercutio.
Since the love of my life has died, I should die along side of her!
Romeo is banished from Verona and is not able to be married to Juliet. Furthermore, Juliet refuses to marry Paris, her future husband that was set up by her parents. Her parents think that her marrying Paris would be a good way for her to get over her greaving for the loss of her cousin, Tybalt.
Juliet was very depressed after Romeo was banished as so she decided to go through with a plan to get Romeo back; this plan was made by Friar Lawrence. The plan was for Juliet to take a drug and make Romo think that she is dead. This plan did not get carried on to Romeo and it turned into a big mess.
As the story concludes, when Romeo went to go find Juliet, he was so devastated by her "death" that he killed himself to show his love for her. Then, after Juliet woke up, she was shocked at what he had done himself for her, she decided to kill herself as well. In all of this, Paris was also killed by Romeo. The main resolution in this play was that it eventually brought the two families together and out of their long fight.
