The Watson's finally end up in Alabama and greeted by Grandma Sands. Kenny decided to go to the whirl-pool, and to be almost drowning. This is the falling action because the challenge is being confronted.

The church in Birmingham has been bombed. Kenny thought he dint save Joetta but she actually was still alive and thought he saw her ghost. By doesn't end up staying in Birmingham after all and returns home with his family back to Flint, Michigan and helps Kenny cope with his tragedy of him not saving Joetta. This is the resolution because the conflict is now resolved.
The theme of the story "The Watson's Go to Birmingham" is there is nothing more important than family because the Watsons have stuck up for each other and have helped each other through the bad times.
