  • from line 54 to 55 brother (narrator) says “Mama, he smiled. He’s all there! He's all there!” because the family didn't know where he would be disabled. This shows that the narrator wanted his little brother to be able to play with him.
  • 126-144
  • Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me.
  • from like 75-81 it talks about how doodle can't walk yet. Doodle was named doodle because he crawled backward like a doodlebug. His real name was William Armstrong.

  • from lines, 103 to 112 brother takes doodle to the Old Woman Swamp. When they get there doodle gets emotional at the sight of the swamp.

  • MY SCARLET IBIS IS DEAD
  • from lines, 126-144 brother takes doodle to his casket and doodle didn't wanna touch it. Brother said he wouldn't help unless he touched it. After doodle got out he cried and clung to his brother and said don't leave me.
