  • I will go to the american colonies to fight!
  • Lafayette meets George Washington
  • Thank you for helping us.
  • Hello, I am Marquis de Lafayette.
  • September 11, 1777
  • I surrender!
  • Lafayette came to the american colonies at his own expense from France to help the patriots win freedom from Great Britain.
  • February 1779
  • Your highness, I'll need you to send some troops back to the colonies with me.
  • He quickly had a good relationship with the general of the continental army, George Washington, and was appointed a major general.
  • York Town
  • Charge!!!
  • Lafayette was soon able to command his own division. He conducted a mastery retreat from Barron Hills.
  • After Revolution
  • I would like to thank Lafayette for helping us gain independence!
  • He came back to France with Benjamin Franklin and John Adams to persuade King Louis XVI to send soldiers to America.
  • I understand.
  • The French solders came, and they cornered the British at Yorktown. The British army was at their limit.
  • On October 19, Cornwallis surrendered, and the colonist won. Lafayette was deemed a hero and was called " Hero of Two Worlds."
