- A what?
- For example, the ocean is a solution. It has the solvent which is the water and the solute is the salt.
- Oh, I get it. The ocean is a solution, the salt is a solute and the water is the solvent.
- Yes. The solubility of salt in the water means it has a higher ability to bedissolved.
- If you increase the heat on a jar of water, then put in some salt, it would dissolve faster.
- Why?
- Because themolecules in water are moving faster, they can easily break apart the salt.
- Oh, whathappens if you decrease the heat?
- It would take longer to dissolve.
- Cool!
