What is child labour? Child labour is an employment of children in a business or industry which is illegal, this also interferes with the kid's childhood (Children working in mines, tobacco farms, cocoa farms)
The cocoa beans that the chilren have picked get sent to a factory to get made into something like chocolate
Why does child labour exist? A few examples of why child labour exists is because the family could be living in poverty so they make the children work as well to earn more money for the family, It could also be because child traffickers lure children to go with them to the bus by tricking them, another reason why children work is because they don't have an education or they fail exams, so they can no longer attend school etc.
Child trafikking is a main reason why kids end up in child labour, people go around tricking kids to go with them, they end up at a bus station which they will go on a bus to the next stop, then the adult will go on their motorcycle and sneak the children across the border where the farms are. This happens to thusands of children each year.
Where does this Occur? The most known country that is accused of child labour is Africa, as we have seen a documentary about the child labour in the Ivory Coast in Ghana, Child labour also occurs in India, Sudan, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Nigeria etc.
Who does this effect? This effects the poor children that have to work incredibly hard all day , the parents of these kids, the workers on the site/factory. This also effects all of us who eat for example chocolate, knowing that poor children mostly under the age of 15 hand picked those ingredients.
How does this effect the child? This effects them in many ways, they wouldn't be able to have a proper childhood, no education, they wouldn't know how to communicate with others, they wouldn't know how to deal with other things physically or mentally. This also overworks the child, cause the child to get ill.
