  • Hey James Madison did ever thing of proposing a plan for a new government?
  • Say we can have 3 branches of government and the legislature could consist of 2 houses
  • No not really and now that I think about it I think we should propose a  plan for a new government.
  • The New Jersey Plan
  • The New Jersey plan supported the smaller states and the legislate would have 1 house
  • I William Patterson proposed the New Jersey Plan and each sate would have one vote in legislate 
  • The Great Compromise was were the House of Representatives would be elected by popular vote and would be based on population which satisfied the Virginia Plan

  • The Great Compromise was also were Senate would be chosen by the state legislature and each state no matter what size would have two senators which satisfied the New Jersey Paln

  • By 1787 some of the states banned the slaves trade in their states boarder
  • We in the Northern believe that enslaved should be counted towards taxes, they could not vote so they should not be counted in the population count for representation
  • Did you know in the south enslaved are our economy, and they should not count towards taxes

  • We include the enslaved people in our states' population counts because it would given us more representations in the house of representation

  • The 3/5 compromise was were each enslaved was counted 3 out of 5 of a person for taxes and population of the house of representatives
  • The fraction would be 3/5 and the percentage would be 60%
