  • The people of Russia could not afford food because the government printed too much money and inflation skyrocketed. There was also lots of shortages in food due to this. Many protested this, mainly the wives of soldiers and the wives of working class men.
  • The people of Russia wanted a say/representation in government and the creation of laws and policies. They were given the Duma, which was like a parliament, however this was largely ignored and eventually was dissolved
  • In St. Petersburg people were peacefully protesting their awful working conditions. The soldiers had become nervous because of the big crowd, and opened fire on the people killing thousands. People felt the Czar was responsible for this event.
